Graveside service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, Wapello Cemetery. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today, Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello.

WAPELLO, Iowa — Harold Dean ‘Herb’ Beeding, 62, formerly of Oakville, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2008, at the home of his sister, Anna Moore in Wapello.

Mr. Beeding was born Nov. 7, 1945, at Port Louisa, th son of Clarence Melvin and Helen Luella Wheeler Beeding,

The Rev. Dan Doolin officiating and the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post No. 5166 will provide military rites.

A memorial fund has been established.

He married Barbara Miller July 7, 1968, and later married Missy Scoggin Sept. 18, 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He was a dozer operator and mechanic in heavy equipment construction working for several companies.

He did mechanic work for lots of friends in his spare time as he would always be tinkering on vehicles. He loved fishing, hunting, mushrooming, and spending time with his friends while playing cards or having fish frys or turtle frys. He loved kids.

He is survived by a son, Bradley and Amy Beeding of East Moline, Ill.; two daughters, Donna Beeding of Rock Island, Ill. and Diana Gasper of LeClaire; three step-children, Billy Scoggin of Eolia, Mo., Larry Scoggin of Iraq, and Michelle Scoggin Maybry of Clarksville, Mo.; three granddaughters, Olivia and Gracie of LeClaire and Samantha of East Moline; seven step-grandchildren of Missouri; three brothers, Clyde ‘Pete’ Beeding of Muscatine, Bill Beeding and Jerry Beeding both of Wapello; five sisters, Stella Foster, Beverley Spitznogle, Bonnie Oberly, and Anna Moore, all of Wapello and Evelyn “June” Clayton of Letts; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Omer, Ronald, and Terry Beeding; and three sisters, Vivian Foster, Alice Hamilton, and Helen ‘Florene’ Wixom.
