KEOKUK, Iowa — Berniece Cleo Davis, 88, of Keokuk, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Mrs. Davis was born on Oct. 19, 1920, in Sikeston, Mo., the daughter of Otto and Bertha Wagner Rettig. She married Lowell Wesley Davis in Sikeston, Mo., Dec. 28, 1941.

She enjoyed taking care of her flowers, loved to travel, and enjoyed playing Skipbo, dominos and various card games. She was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family.

Burial was at Burlington Memorial Park in Burlington.

She is survived by her husband, Lowell; four sons, Wesley Davis and wife, Merrilyn, Keokuk, Lowell Davis Jr. and wife, Mary of Keokuk, Steven Davis and wife, Kitty of Kahoka, Mo., Craig Davis of Coralville; three daughters, Bernice Shuster and husband, David of Rock Springs, Wyo., Janet Servinski and husband, Bill of Wayland, Mo., Susan Maddox and husband, John of Keokuk; a daughter-in-law, Rose Davis of Sandusky; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Willine Miller and husband, Ferrell of Sikeston, and Sadie James and husband, Mitchell of White Hall, Ill.; a brother, Harold Rettig and wife Mary Beth of Sikeston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Davis; a granddaughter, Leanna Davis; a grandson, Mathew Schmitt; two brothers, Sherman Rettig and Laverne Rettig; and two sisters, Dorothy Broderick and Lola Adcock.
