Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, Solid Rock Baptist Church, Wapello. Friends and family will gather for a lunch and fellowship at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, at the church.

 OAKVILLE, Iowa — William LeRoy ‘Bill’ Hayes, 74, of Oakville, died Wednesday Sept. 17, 2008, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

The Rev. Dan Doolin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Edwards Cemetery at Oakville.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, is providing the care and arrangements for Bill Hayes.

Mr. Hayes was born Sept. 17, the son of William and Nettie Marlette Hayes, in Oakville. He married Donna Mae Wagg on June 7, 1958, in Oakville. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1995.

He graduated from Oakville High School. He worked for Kuntz’s Sawmill Service for many years. Later he worked with his son in construction of installation of cross country fiber optics. He had served in the Marines during the Korean Conflict

He enjoyed turtle trapping, fishing, hunting, and his Cocker Spaniel dogs.

He is survived by his children, Dean Hayes of Oakville, James and Joyce Hayes of Letts, Joe Paul Hayes of Oakville, Lisa Tramen of Fort Madison, and Adella Belokopitives of Oakville; 18 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Beverly and Norm Tweed of Columbus Junction and Ivanelle Maree ‘Ivy’ Wagg of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; two sons, Jerry and an infant Stephen; two brothers, Richard and his infant twin Warren; two half brothers, Everett and Arthur; and a half sister, Velma.
