Service: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, funeral home.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa — Gertrude Jeanette ‘Gert’ Brown, 90, a resident of Columbus Junction and formerly Muscatine, died Monday evening, Sept. 15, 2008, at the home of her son, Keith in rural Muscatine.

The Rev. Ramona Wink will officiate. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery at Muscatine.

The casketbearers will include Gabe Brown, Chad Stuart, Tim Fuller, Albert Schultz, Troy Brown, and Walker Brown. Honorary bearers will be Beth Schnoebelen, Tammi Pugh, Kristy Brown, Kalena Pugh, Jennifer Jackson, Eric Pugh, and Jessica Buffington.

A Gertrude Brown Memorial Fund has been established.

Mrs. Brown was born June 20, 1918, in Muscatine, the daughter of Oliver and Wilma Fischer Reichert.  She married Clifford Walter Brown on June 20, 1939 in Muscatine.

She graduated from Muscatine High School. She was a homemaker and had worked for several years at Batterson’s Department Store in Muscatine. She was a member of the Moose Lodge. Gert enjoyed crocheting, quilting, playing cards, camping, and especially loved to fish and spend time with her family.

She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Keith Walter Brown of Muscatine, and Dennis Leroy and Kathy Brown of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son-in-law, Albert “Sonnie” Schultz of Columbus Junction; 14 grandchildren, Beth and Ron Schnoebelen of Riverside, Tammi and Monte Pugh and Tim and Tammy Fuller, both of Columbus Junction, Gabe and Katie Brown of Wilton, Chad Stuart and Kristy Brown, both of Muscatine, Vicki and Fred Yakle of Cape Coral, Fla., Tiffany and Brian Long of Moline, Ill., Troy and Kelly Brown, Walker Brown, Amy Brown, Ivy Tew, Heath Guzman, and Josh Guzman all of Cape Coral; nine brothers and sisters, Vera Webb, Loretta Drawbaugh, and Pauline Webb all of Muscatine, Pat and Bill Blake of Bettendorf, Ronald Reichert of Ladora, Jack and Dorothy Reichert of Muscatine, Sandy and Howard Van Winkle of Bettendorf, Paul and Jaci Reichert and Jerry Reichert, both of Muscatine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; daughter, Arlene Schultz; daughters-in-law, Joan Brown and Riva Brown; granddaughter, Valerie Brown; grandsons, Michael and Joseph Brown; brothers, Oliver Reichert Jr., Richard Reichert, and Robert Reichert; and sisters, Jean Thorpe and Donna Reichert.
