DAVENPORT, Iowa — Anna B. Armstrong, 99, of Davenport, died on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Mrs. Armstrong was born on Feb. 2, 1909, the daughter of Robert and Clara (Weaver) Wilkerson in Wilton. She was married to Harry H. Armstrong, and had worked at the former J.I. Case Co. for  27 years, retiring in 1963.

She enjoyed her yearly vacations to Estes Park, Colo., and, most especially loved photography. She was quite the “shutter bug.” She never knew a stranger, and even enjoyed photographing those that she met. A very warm and friendly person, she loved children, cats and dogs. There was a period of time that she was known in her neighborhood as the “Sandwich Lady“, making “Annie sandwiches” for the neighborhood children.

She is survived by her many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved their “Aunt Annie.” They are grateful to have had her for such a very long time.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Vesta, Lela and Alice; four brothers, Warren, Oakley, Cecil and George.

Memorials may be made to the family for donation to various Wilton, Iowa charities.
