WEST BRANCH, Iowa – West Liberty got three hits, a double and an RBI from Brianna Runge in a 4-2 softball win at West Branch on Thursday.
Brooke Bowie added two more hits for the Belles (6-9, 3-6).
Emily Christensen struck out six and gave up no walks in earning the win on the mound for coach Norm Mitts’ club.

Soph boys roll twice
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Coach Clay Dillon’s Muscatine sophomore baseball squad completely dominated Davenport North in a doubleheader on Thursday.
After the Muskies’ 13-2 conference win in the opener, Muscatine led 19-0 in the first inning in an eventual 29-6 win in the non-conference game.
Muscatine batted around twice in the first inning and had a total of 18 hits, benefited from seven walks, nine errors and was hit by four pitches in the runaway victory. Four hits were by Mat Snider.
The Muskies had 16 hits in the first game.

Insurance run is big
WILTON, Iowa – Wilton needed the insurance run it got in the fourth inning in a 4-3 softball win over Williamsburg on Wednesday.
The Beavers scored three in the first and got a run by virtue of an error in the fourth in holding on against the Raiders.

L-M shuts out IMS
LETTS, Iowa – Louisa-Muscatine’s softball team blanked IMS, 10-0, on Thursday night.
Jordyn Schaper, who earned the win on the mound for the Falcons left the game with a 7-0 lead in the fourth inning and Emily Gardner continued the shutout over the final two innings.
Schaper struck out five of the nine batters she faced and Gardner struck out four of the six batters she faced.
“Pitching was tremendous tonight,” interim coach Stacy Beatty said.
The Falcons had 10 hits to back the pitching efforts.

Wapello doubles up
MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa – Wapello’s softball team doubled up on Mediapolis on the road, 6-3, on Thursday night.
The Arrows were led at the plate by Laura Tackenberg, who finished the night 3-for-4.
Emily McAtee struck out three and walked three in earning the win on the mound.

Wilton boys take 2
WILTON, Iowa – Wilton swept Mt. Vernon in a baseball doubleheader on Thursday, winning 10-1 and 11-1.
The Beavers had fine pitching performances by Drake Austin and Drew Freie in shutting down the Mustang offense.
Coach Jake Souhrada’s club got 13 hits in the opener and nine more in the nightcap to improve to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference.

Durant topples Solon
SOLON, Iowa – After struggling some in the early going, Durant-Bennett scored a key 3-2 Eastern Iowa Hawkeye softball win Wednesday night over Solon.
Coach Steve Hopkins’ Wildcats, now 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the league, got two-hit pitching from junior all-stater Kassie Krummel.
Sophomore Stef Hendrych led a nine-hit Wildcat attack with three hits, including a pair of doubles.

KEOKUK, Iowa – Columbus Community scored three runs over the final two innings in a 7-5 non-conference baseball win over Keokuk Wednesday.
Winning pitcher Micheal Allen helped himself with an RBI single in a two-run sixth inning.
The Wildcats added an insurance run in the seventh on singles by Boyd and Zuniga and a double by Harris.
