MUSCATINE, Iowa — High waters on the Mississippi River have sunk the speed boats.
This weekend’s That was Then, This is Now Boat Show will go on as planned with one exception, organizer Dave Moritz said Monday. He said renewed flooding on the river forced the show to cancel its boat-racing demonstrations.
All other activities, including fireworks on Saturday night, will proceed, Moritz said.
Flood stage on the Mississippi River at Muscatine is 16 feet. This morning’s reading was 17.4 feet. It is expected to rise to 17.9 feet by Wednesday morning and fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.
