MUSCATINE, Iowa — The Muscatine Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident that took place last weekend and caused a Muscatine man to be injured.
David Kelb, 29, was walking north near the 4800 block of U.S. Highway 61, northeast of The Green Thumbers nursery, when he was hit by a car. The incident happened around
1 a.m. on Sept. 15. Kelb’s truck had stalled in Grandview and he was walking home to Muscatine on the highway.
Authorities said the vehicle fled the scene heading northeast. The vehicle is a General Motors-make SUV, year 2004 or newer and is either a Chevrolet Trailblazer, Buick Rainier, GMC Envoy or Oldsmobile Bravada. Authorities said the the driver’s side mirror is missing from the vehicle, unless it’s already been replaced.
Anyone with information regarding a vehicle matching this description or anyone who witnessed the accident or saw Kelb on the roadside afterward is asked to contact the Department at 563-263-9922.
Kelb suffered injuries to his leg, foot and head. He is in stable condition at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was scheduled to have surgery on his leg for a broken tibia yesterday and said he believes he’ll undergo surgery on his foot sometime this week.
