MUSCA-TINE, Iowa—Elizabeth C. Carpenter, 89, died on Friday, July 13, 2007, at Lutheran Homes.

The Rev. Donnita Payne Hostetler of Amenity Hospice, Cedar Rapids, will officiate the service. Casket bearers are Paul Swab, Mike Swab, Austin Swab, Richard Varner and Jared Swab. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit at Lutheran Homes.

Elizabeth was born on Feb. 1, 1918, in What Cheer, the daughter of Raymond R. and Jane Smith Curry. She married Fred A. Carpenter on Sept. 12, 1936, in Muscatine.

She was employed at Thatcher Plastic Packaging from 1949-1955, in the quality control department.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed doll collecting and making doll clothing.

Survivors include her husband, Fred A. Carpenter, of Muscatine; two daughters, Nancy J. Swab and husband Paul of Muscatine, and Patricia A. Huber and husband Wayne of Columbus, Ind.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters in infancy and four brothers.
